Have you ever tracked down any of your old high school friends and fellow students?
Submitted by campsite2007.It's funny how quickly you lose track of friends. It seems just yesterday that we were sitting around at lunchtime talking about our future and everything else to come. I also remembering saying "keep in touch to nearly everyone" but at the back of my mind I never really thought about. The future was too far away. I still remember during the summer holidays before year 12 started, me and my two BESTEST friends in the world lay on the grass just outside Darling Harbour. I remember it was in January and it was the day that the university sent out its offers for the class of 2002. We were sitting there, saying "in one years time that will be us" and dreaming about where our future lay. We were always in a rush to grow up. But little did we know that this meant growing apart.
Even though we're still friends today, and even though we still talk. Things have changed so much. Our friendship has never been the same. I'd always imagined that even though we may lose touch with everyone else eventually, we'd make it through the years and it'd be the three of us always.
In the last year or so, over 3 years since we left our childhood dreams behind I began to start keeping in touch with those I've left behind. It started off with my 21st Birthday. I began to think about all the people who MADE a difference to my life back then. The girls I hung out with in class. The girls that I'd walk around the school with for those intimate chats. Even that guy I never thought I'd ever see again. I even managed to track down the friend that moved out of home and back in again. People who I genuinely liked. And when they all showed up (minus Amee whose birthday was a day before mine) I felt touched. That even though we've only seen each other a few times since High School they would come to celebrate this day with us. It made me realise how much of a difference I made to their lives.
